Directional Line, 2024
Woodcut Print on Canvas
227cm x 304cm
Hand-sewn from over 19 woodcut prints, Directional Line forms part of an ongoing exploration of the body's relationship to line, movement, and intent.
While the body is intrinsically connected to line, it is also inherently directional; when we walk, look and point, our bodies and their parts move in specific directions. Body posture and gestures inherently convey direction and intent - but they also have the potential to be contradictory- a hand pointing forward while a head looks back; multiple simultaneous direction. In engaging with this tension, this work aims to construct and shape an inquiry into the nature of conflict, doubt, and complicity.
